The company reached a major milestone this week when its five hundred thousandth electric vehicle rolled off the assembly line at its Beijing factory, an achievement that underscores how rapidly it has emerged as a major player in the country’s booming EV market.

Following the production milestone, founder and chief executive Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi is raising its delivery target for next year. The company had previously aimed to deliver three hundred fifty thousand vehicles in 2025, but strong demand and improved manufacturing capabilities have prompted it to increase that target to four hundred thousand units. Even with this more ambitious goal, Lei made it clear that Xiaomi will not sacrifice safety or reliability in the push for higher output.

In a message posted on WeChat, Lei emphasized that Xiaomi sees safety as the fundamental principle guiding every stage of development, production and delivery. He stressed that the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUVs will continue to be built to Xiaomi’s high quality standards even as factories move to accelerate output. Lei said that the company remains dedicated to strict testing protocols, careful quality inspections and continuous improvements to hardware and software systems that protect drivers and passengers.

This renewed focus comes at an important moment for Xiaomi. The company has gained a large following for its sleek designs, competitive pricing and advanced intelligent driving systems, but the EV market in China is intensely competitive. Major players such as Tesla, BYD and Nio all contend for leadership, and consumers are paying closer attention to safety features and crash performance.
