Chinese Adviser Urges Faster Military AI Development After Middle East Conflict

A prominent Chinese political scholar has warned that China must accelerate the development of military applications of artificial intelligence if it hopes to keep pace with the United States in future warfare. The warning came after recent events in the Middle East highlighted how advanced technologies are reshaping modern military operations.

Zheng Yongnian, a well known Chinese political scientist and policy adviser, said that China risks falling behind strategically if artificial intelligence continues to be used mainly for civilian industries rather than defense innovation. His remarks came during a discussion about the growing influence of AI in global security and military strategy.

Zheng pointed to recent precision strikes carried out by the United States and Israel during escalating conflict in the Middle East. According to his analysis, these operations demonstrated how artificial intelligence technologies have become deeply integrated into advanced military systems.
