Xi Jinping has outlined a four point proposal aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East during a meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Beijing. The initiative reflects China’s growing diplomatic engagement in the region amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and conflict.
Xi emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence as a foundation for regional stability, calling for the development of a comprehensive and cooperative security framework for the Middle East and Gulf region. He also stressed respect for national sovereignty, urging that the territorial integrity and security of all countries be upheld while ensuring the protection of people and institutions.
A key element of the proposal focused on strengthening adherence to international law, with Xi warning against a return to disorder in global relations. He highlighted the need for countries to operate within established legal frameworks to maintain stability and avoid escalation in already volatile areas.
The fourth pillar of the plan centers on balancing development and security, encouraging all parties to work together to create conditions that support economic growth alongside peace. Xi noted that China is willing to share opportunities linked to its development model with Gulf nations, positioning economic cooperation as a pathway to long term stability.
During the meeting, both sides also reaffirmed the strength of relations between China and the United Arab Emirates. Xi described the UAE as a comprehensive strategic partner, highlighting progress in trade, energy, and cultural exchange, while calling for deeper collaboration in areas such as technology, investment, and education.
The UAE leadership welcomed China’s role in international affairs and expressed support for closer coordination on global platforms. Both sides signaled a shared commitment to promoting ceasefires, safeguarding shipping routes, and contributing to regional and global stability as tensions continue to affect the Middle East.
