China Condemns US Blockade of Iran Ports as Dangerous and Irresponsible

China has strongly criticized the United States’ decision to impose a naval blockade on Iranian ports, describing the move as “dangerous and irresponsible” amid already fragile conditions in the region. The comments were delivered by Guo Jiakun during a press briefing in Beijing, where he warned that the action risks escalating tensions further.

According to Chinese officials, the blockade threatens to undermine ceasefire efforts and could inflame an already volatile situation linked to the ongoing Iran conflict. Guo emphasized that such measures increase uncertainty and raise the risk of confrontation, particularly in sensitive maritime areas that are critical for global trade and energy supply.

A key concern highlighted by Beijing is the impact on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important shipping routes. Officials warned that restrictions or instability in the strait could jeopardize the safety of vessels and disrupt the flow of oil and goods, with potential consequences for the global economy.

China has called for all parties to adhere to ceasefire arrangements and prioritize dialogue and negotiations as a path toward de escalation. The government urged concrete actions to restore stability and ensure that normal maritime operations can resume as soon as possible.

The statement reflects China’s broader position advocating diplomatic solutions and regional stability, while opposing actions that could intensify conflict. As tensions continue, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains a focal point for global attention, with developments closely watched by governments and markets alike.
